The following are missionaries or ministries that are supported by FPC through Faith Promise Giving.

Earl and Rosie

Earl is originally from Selma, Alabama , and Rosie is from Waialua, Hawaii. They have been married since 1971. Earl and Rosie were called to missions during their time at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS to be obedient to the Great Commission. After graduation they served with MTW for 11 years, mainly in the country of Peru as church planters in the Hinterland Ministry. Earl then served as assistant pastor for pastoral care at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Jackson, MS for nearly four years, and then served as pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church in Madison, FL.

Earl and Rosie have been called to minister to the Quechuas once again. The burden for the Quechua people of the Andes Mountains in South America has remained close to their hearts. With over 12 million people, they are the largest unreached people group in all of the Americas, and for the most part, have never even heard the name of Jesus before. Please pray for Earl and Rosie as they minister through church planting and evangelism among the Quechuas.

Earl and Rosie have one adult daughter, Elizabeth Leilani (Lani) Sewell and Carla (2/18/91).

Andy and Bev Warren

Andy and Bev Warren began their missionary service with Mission to the World in 1982 and have ministered in Kenya, Hungary and Ethiopia. Since 1996, the Warrens have served in Ethiopia where Andy is the team leader for a MTW church-planting team in the capital, Addis Ababa. The team ministers to people affected by AIDS as their platform for reaching the city.

Ethiopia has the third highest number of people infected with HIV/AIDS in the world. One in every eleven people with HIV/AIDS is an Ethiopian, and this disease has orphaned more than a million children.

The Warrens minister in the Lideta area of Addis Ababa, one of the poorest section of one of the poorest cities in the world. By providing food, shelter, medical care, counseling, and orphan care, MTW has become an important part of this community.

There are no Evangelical or Protestant churches in this area of approximately 60,000 people, but through this mercy ministry in Lideta the Warrens are sharing the gospel by demonstrating Christ’s love and telling about God’s grace.

The have 4 children: Cooper and Hannah (5/18/82), Asher (3/12/87), Christopher (4/22/91).

Robert and Linda Rahaim

Robert and Linda are following a call to career missions in Scotland. Although they are new to missions they are very excited and humbled by this call.

Robert is a native of Massachusetts. Linda was born in Philadelphia. Both are first generation Christians looking forward to God’s covenantal promises for future generations.

They have been invited to join the cooperative effort between MTW and several Scottish churches to revitalize the dwindling church in Scotland. They will be working in the area of family ministries.

Robert is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Mississippi, where is on staff with a Christian counseling center. He holds an M.A. in marriage and family therapy from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS. He has been an instructor and lecturer at RTS and Belhaven College.

Linda earned a B.S. in family science from Montreat-Anderson College. She has taught literature and drama in Christian schools for over eight years. She also home-schools her children.

Robert is a ruling elder at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Jackson, MS.

They have four children: Joseph (4/10/75), David (6/30/83), Jessica (3/28/86), and Sarah (11/13/90).

Beth is currently as Associate Director for the SIL-PNG Branch. SIL-PNG has recently dedicated their 150th New Testament in PNG and will celebrate 50 years in PNG as an organization in 2006. Aaron and Leticia Zapata

Aaron grew up in Yucatan, Mexico, in a Christian family. He accepted Christ as Savior at a summer youth camp when he was nineteen. He married Leticia in 1976. He worked as a civil engineer for five years while serving as a lay leader in the church. Feeling a call to become a pastor, Aaron attended Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS, where he obtained Master of Divinity and Master of Christian Education degrees. Since then, Aaron has pastored five churches and has served as president of San Pablo Theological Seminary in Merida, Mexico. Aaron and Leticia were called by Mission to North America and have served with BEAMM in El Paso for the past eight years. Oasis PCA Mission was begun in 1997 by Aaron and his family. Sav-A-Life - Demopolis

The mission of Sav-A-Life Outreach Centers is to establish or work with pregnancy centers in order that communities will be reached for Christ and that abortion will be made unnecessary and undesirable. Our stated mission is accomplished by helping women in unplanned pregnancies make a choice for life physically and eternally. In other words, Sav-A-Life has a two-fold focus: to preserve physical and spiritual lives. Physically, the sanctity of every human life is a God-given truth found throughout Scripture. The absolute truth as given by our Creator in His Word is our foundation. Without question, God’s Word gives value, dignity, and sacred worth to the physical life of each person, born and unborn. God gives sanctity to our physical bodies, yet, it is our spiritual beings that were created for eternity. We have the unique privilege of offering the gift of eternal life to those we encounter through this ministry. While we strive to meet the physical needs of any woman who may come through our door, we realize that we could feed her today, but tomorrow she would be hungry again. It would be pointless to offer her only temporary solutions without offering to her the very answer to life itself. We know that long lasting, eternal hope is only found in the person of Jesus Christ, our redeemer.

Because of this mission and the work of Sav-A-Life, each year:

      2,500 babies are saved
      45,000 women are ministered to
      2,000 women receive Christ

Johan and Stephanie van der Westhuizen are South Africans who have been missionaries since 1976. Both of them came to know the Lord as Savior as teenagers under the ministry of missionaries in Africa. They have three children: Lycia (9/9/79), Lionel (2/12/81) and Brendon (1/20/84).

They were involved in training and leading short term mission outreaches from 1976 until 1985 when they arrived in Chile to begin church planting in the capital city of Santiago. In 2002 Johan and Stephanie moved to Osorno, some 360 miles further south from Santiago. There Johan has dedicated a large part of his efforts to training nationals for the ministry while Stephanie concentrated on training leaders for the women’s ministry and starting new evangelistic Bible studies. The first ministerial candidate in Osorno is in the process of preparing now for ordination.

New Tribes Mission

Macon and Katy Hare are helping New Tribes Mission and its missionaries, effectively communicate their purpose, vision and values and to challenge partners throughout the world to be a part in taking the gospel of Jesus Christ to tribal and ethnic groups. As a leader and visionary, Macon constantly explores new and better ways to communicate. Macon serves as member of the Leadership Team which has the administrative and spiritual oversite for the NTM headquarters in Sanford, Florida and it’s missionary staff. Katy assists Macon and his administrative secretary. She also leads short mission trips worldwide to encourage and refresh missionary women through retreats and seminars.

Apologetics Resource Center

Clete Hux is with Apologetics Resource Center, a Christian ministry whose mission is “to reach the minds and hearts of people with the message and truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ,” contending for the faith in the areas of resistance of skepticism, secularism, cults and other alien religions and philosophies.

Clete’s interest in Christian apologetics and ministry to the cults began with his first witnessing opportunity. The day after he became a Christian in 1974, he encountered a homosexual member of the Church of Satan. Since then his interest in separating spiritual truth from error has motivated him to educate and evangelize.

Clete graduated from Birmingham Theological Seminary in 1984 with a Master of Divinity degree, and was ordained as Senior Pastor for First Presbyterian Church in Eutaw, AL. He also served at Roebuck Presbyterian Church in Roebuck, SC. From 1990 to February 2001, he served in counter-cult ministry with Watchman Fellowship, first as Staff Missionary, then as Associate Director for the state of Alabama, and finally as Director of Missions. Clete remains a Teaching Elder in the PCA, and is a member of Evangel Presbytery.

In 1982, Clete married the former Karen Stemple. They have two sons: Michael (1984) and Aaron (1988).

Desire Street Ministries

Desire Street Ministries, located in New Orleans, is an incarnational ministry focused on indigenous leadership development. Rev. Mo Leverett and his wife moved into the Desire neighborhood and founded DSM in 1990, a time when the Desire project was ranked the worst in the country. Mo began his youth outreach as a volunteer football coach at the local high school with a vision to see Desire become a desirable place to live. To this day our mission is to revitalize the Desire neighborhood through spiritual and community development.

Our philosophy of incarnational ministry, patterned after the life of Christ who “came and dwelt among us,” means our ministry team lives in the neighborhood, facing the realities of life together with those we serve. We share transportation, meals, resources and the experiences of daily life with one another. In this way, the children and families here know we understand first-hand the struggles they face.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian organization driven by the desire to give tangible expression to the love of God through the work of eliminating poverty housing. Habitat’s mission and methods are predominantly derived from a few key theological concepts: the necessity of putting faith into action, the “economics of Jesus” and the “theology of the hammer.”

Habitat provides an opportunity for people to put their faith and love into action, bringing diverse groups of people together to make affordable housing and better communities a reality for everyone. When people act in response to human need, giving what they have without seeking profit or interest, we believe God magnifies the effects of our efforts. The homeowners are required to provide “sweat equity.” Habitat volunteers and supporters have made affordable housing a reality for more than 200,000 families worldwide.

We are now in language school full time and need much prayer and encouragement.  Please pray that we would be diligent in our studies and that we would retain what we learn.  Pray that we would be patient with our children and each other while we are stressing about our studies.  We are thankful for this time with our children as we are both able to be involved in their care.  Robert studies first in the morning and then we switch off with child care so that Lisa can study.  Please pray that we would cherish this wonderful time with our children.

We are thrilled to be a part of starting a new school in Japan.  Covenant Community School International (CCSI) is scheduled to open next April and we are very excited to work with several wonderful Japanese families.  We travel back to Chiba once a month for meetings and correspond through email the rest of the time.  Many of the meetings are in Japanese and we are really feeling the need for this language study.

New Military Chaplain

Jonathan and Suzi Entrekin met when they were 3 years old. They both attended the same pre-school, as well as elementary, middle and high schools in Gulf Breeze, Florida. We began dating our senior year. Of course, we both ended up attending the same college. Suzi and I graduated from Covenant College in 1995. We were married that summer. In the fall of 1996, I was hired as the Resident Director for Carter Hall at Covenant College. I served in that capac-ity for 6 years. While working for the college, I attended classes through the Psychological Studies Institute in Atlanta and earned my Masters degree in Counseling. While I completed my counseling internship, Suzi worked as a Resident Director for Covenant College's Student Apartment community. After 9-11, I began to wonder about the possibility of doing counseling in the military. I went to ask our pas-tor, himself an Army Chaplain, if he thought the military would be a good fit for me. After hearing what type of counseling I was interested in doing, he suggested that I consider being a Chaplain. After several months of prayer, Suzi and I agreed that God was indeed calling us to serve in that Army Chaplaincy. We moved our family to St. Louis to attend Covenant Theological Seminary. While in St. Louis, I joined the Army's Chaplain Candi-date program, was commissioned a 2nd Lt. and joined the Missouri National Guard. After graduating from Covenant Seminary in 2007 with a Masters in Divinity, I pursued ordination through the Tennessee Valley Presbytery. In July 2007, I met all of the requirements for ordination. I was also picked up by the Army Chaplain accessions board to serve active duty. My ordination service took place on August 5th with our pastor, Randy Nabors preaching and Rev. Joe Novenson giving the charge to me and praying. Good friend Sila Tuju and Rob Woodard served as the Ruling Elders on the ordination service commission.

On August 9th, we were informed that we would be heading to Ft. Campbell, KY. I have been tasked to be a Chaplain with the 101st Airborne Division. Please pray for Suzi and our 4 children: Asher (9), Kinsman (6), Nouwen (4) and Ransom (1) as we make this transition to active duty.

The McNutt’s

Doug, Kelly, Moses, Makenna,Mia, and Genevieve McNutt

Doug and Kelly are feeling God’s call to church-planting ministry in Utah.  Some statistics show the population of Utah to be 86% Mormon.  Evangelical churches are few and far between in many parts of the state and there are only 5 PCA churches in the state.  The McNutt’s would like to do a church-planting apprenticeship under one of the Utah PCA pastors/church-planters and then move into a church-plant in a selected Utah city themselves.  Mission Utah (www.missionutah.org) is the PCA’s church-planting network in Utah that Doug and Kelly would be working with.  The church-planting apprenticeship would last 1-2 years, during which time they would select a city in Utah to move into for a church-plant.  Please pray for the details of this call to come into place and for the lost sheep of Utah.
